Ok.. So I couldn't make a decision on what floor mats to buy from my new-to-me 2013 F-150 Lariat.. The carpet on this thing is in perfect condition and I want to keep it that way as best I can.. So, I was looking at the Husky mats, the Coco mats, the WeatherTech and a few others that are not in my head at the moment.. The short answer is that I was going to shell out about $200 for the front/rear mats regardless of pretty much who the vendor was unless you go with some cheapie no-name vendor..
So, today I was at my local Costco here in northern LA county (that's Los Angeles).. and I decided to try their cheapie cut-to-fit WeatherTech mats for $30 -- primarily for the fronts. Later, while still shopping I came across this pile of "Heavy Duty Entry Mats" on the other end of the store -- for $11 and change. I decided to give one of those a try.. Well.. It worked better than expected.. All I had to do was use tin-snips to cut a 5" x 12" corner out for the Sony Subwoofer and the rest fit perfect.. Is it as good as the $200 jobs? No.. But will it work?? Heck ya! Total outlay $40..
This first photo has the notch cut-out already and in-place slid partly under the sub. This carpet/mat will NOT slide.. The bottom is super rubbery.. Should easily stay in place. Could it be a bit wider? Sure! But its basically 48" wide -- not bad but there's room for improvement.
Here's the same shot from the other side..
Here's what it looks like with the seat folded down..
And finally.. With the WeatherTech mini-mats in place.. (they came as part of the $30 4 piece mat package).
Maybe it's not to your liking, but it totally works for me!!
The sill area is well traveled and will still get dirty without coverage.
For 25 years, I have used indoor/outdoor carpet from a home improvement store in one of my trucks. I buy the rubber-like backed stuff and cut it to fit. I put in new as needed. It has seen a lot of snow and mud. The carpet still looks nearly new.
I was pondering what to do there.. maybe I’ll buy another $11 mat and cut a piece to put on one side or the other so the whole thing can be shifted over and cover the threshold.... in my particular case, I live in the high desert so rain and mud are not much of an issue.. add to that the fact that I rarely have people in the rear... maybe I’ll tackle it... maybe I’ll just leave it.. hmmm
I just buy the brand name stuff used because they're easy to find and sell for way under new. They're durable enough that one a month old and a year old look the same.
For a 2013, the carpet in your truck looks excellent!!! My less than a month old ride has seen: wet, mud, snow and salt already and the floor mats have caught it all.
Nice Job, for $40 it looks nice.
I will say though, the michelin edgeliners (or any custom fitted floor mat) is well worth it. I just got my front set for christmas. I love how they contour going up the sides of the carpet and over the sill. I have the factory rear rubber mat so that one will stay as it covers well enough, especially since very few people ride back there.
