Default Charge too much for electronic problem

I got called from Ford and told me that the heat isn't working because of the electronic problem. They got an electronic specialist came and fix. The charge is $460 includes new filter that I asked. Don't you think it's too much for only new filter and electronic fix??? It pisses me off.

Depends on the parts cost they threw at it... if all they did was fix a wire and throw in a new filter...then yeah

My truck is 2009 f150 lariat. The heat don't work right after I installed new battery. It changed the computer system. I reset it but the heat and fan don't work right. The guys from ford said electronic is the problem that caused. I don't know what to think but $460 is damn too much. I feel like it should be much less than that ridiculous price.

that was hard to read, but if it was an electronic issue then possibly they changed a part also? Do you know exactly what was repaired?

I was just told that they will need an electronic specialist to fix and gave me the cost will be after they are done. I figure I will get the papers and more info after they finish fixing on my truck today.

I would have asked more questions before authorizing the repair. It does suck that you need to pay 460$ but it really depends on the repair if that cost is high

Ask what exactly they will be doing along with what parts they will be using. If a shop rate is 100$ (guessing) that adds up quick when you throw in the cost of parts.

Not to be rude but you have no clue what's wrong and they do so they can charge what they want. You have the option of taking your business elsewhere.

In the future, it's imperative that you set all controls to off in CANBUS controlled vehicles. This is what happens some times. I just installed a new leather steering wheel but in my haste to swap it at 10 at night because I couldn't wait I forgot to turn off my radio before disconnecting the battery. Well wheel went in, took about 10 mins and hooked up battery. The radio lost the RPA (retained power accessory) function meaning when I opened door the radio wouldn't go off, I had to manually turn it off.

After wracking my brain trying to think why putting the same wheel but with leather on it would screw it up when I remembered I let radio on. So I turned everything off and disconnected battery and let it sit for a few minutes and reconnected and whammy it worked like stock! Whew!
