Default CEL fixed itself....

2012 Eco with 53k CEL came on - Dealer read Po299 code, no loss of power, motor ran fine, said it was a solenoid wastegate issue, but ok to drive until could bring it in....CEL stayed on until 8-9 short trips now off....

Did the PCM pick up one miss? Did the truck fix itself? What gives?

Any help?

Google [ ford dtc p0299 ] ...
Potential causes of a P0299 turbo underboost code include:

• Intake (induction) air restriction or leak
• Failed or damaged turbocharger (sticking, binding, etc.)
• Faulty boost/charge pressure sensor
• Faulty injector control pressure (ICP) sensor
• Low oil pressure
• EGR system fault
• Variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) actuator
• VGT vanes sticking
Highly unlikely that it fixed itself, however, it could be that the condition that caused the DTC has been temporarily cleared.

Sometimes the light will go off for awhile and then come back because what ever is happening is not totally broken yet. I have had this happen with a bad o2 sensor, it was starting to go out so it through the code. After a few cycles it would go out but it would come back again until I replaced the sensor. The code should still be stored in your ecu, and there is still a issue that needs to be taken care of.

Mine did this on the way to the Dealership, turned out to be a dirty(oil covered) intake manifold sensor.

It sits directly below the engine cover(towards the rear), I cleaned it with CRC QD Electronic Cleaner. Its been good for over 10k miles now!

With the CEL going off after several drive cycles, Dealer says to continue on and see if the light comes back on - say they need light on to service...

says the light can stay off..

anyone else have it go off and stay off?
