Gotta make sure you change your flizzem flazzem every 3 years or 3 months which ever comes before the last when your flux capacitor becomes clouded also.

Anyone else know what he's talking about? ^
Now, now, be nice to the new guy, LOL. I'll try to interpret.

It looks like he got a CEL and the code said Fuel Fill problem. So he changed the air filter and poured some Marvel Mystery oil into the tank.

That probably did what the video said, lubed up the Capless Fuel Fill. That cleared the CEL.

Then he ruminated about maybe using that oil in his engine before it blew a valve, (made confetti) and maybe it would not have happened.

So, it looks like you can get a dirt build-up in the gas fill that makes the vehicle think that the gas tank is not sealed, as if you left the cap off a standard filler.

FWIW, that video is why I've had a locking gas cap since I bought the truck. I go thru many dusty areas ATVing, and the dust gets into everything, including the fuel fill area.

Wow, that hurt my brain reading the interpretation . As for the filler without cap? My truck spent the first 5 years of its life 98% of that time on gravel roads in IA and farming, hauling grain, pulling farm implements, pulling the skid loader and trailer weighing in at 10K pounds and it never had a cap and I never had an issue in 98K miles. Can't say the same for the 3 GM products I had in that time that did have filler caps.

A $20 locking cap is cheap insurance.

Capless filler = expensive solution to a problem that did not exist. Typical engineer tweak: "I can make it better."

I am an engineer myself and regularly fell into the same trap.

lol, i'm not but still have a bad habit of solving problems that never existed ... sigh

i have a locking cap - for no reason other than stupid kids potentially deciding to put stuff in the tank. worth it? probably not

for gas thieves they just punch a hole in the plastic tank anyway and take the gas, so the locking cap wouldn't slow them down - they might not even notice unless they use the cap to break the vacuum.
