Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio

Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

After I installed my 5* 87 Eco tune, for the first day or two, about two minutes after starting, the Sync BT connection would stop, then restart a few minutes later. Sometimes it would automagically resume playback, but sometimes I had to tell Sync "Bluetooth Audio" to get it to resume.

I'm not sure how loading a tune could cause that, and it hasn't happened after that second day, but it happened reliably after every startup while it was happening.

I have gen 1 sync in my 2012 Raptor. When I start the truck it automatically connects to my phone but always defaults to line in instead of BT. I have done the sync update but it still defaults to line in. This is a major annoyance for me but I've gotten used to it. It will automatically start playing as soon as I change to BT though.

I can't believe this thread was started over 5 years ago and this is still an issue. Has nobody found a work around? I've debated getting an aftermarket head unit but my truck has the big screen, nav, climate control, etc. I wonder if the people behind lockpick would be able to change this internal default setting?

Starting with 4.4, Sync will (usually) default to the connection that was active the last time the system shut down, so if you were on Bluetooth when the system last powered down, it'll resume on BT (if there's a BT device in range), if you were on Sirius, it'll resume on Sirius, etc. If it can't resume on BT, it goes back to FM, at least on mine. There's no way to set it to do that, it just does it, and it's not perfect (sometimes it starts up on FM for me), but it does work that way most of the time.

This is just for the base Sync; I don't have MFT, so I don't know what the touchscreen versions do.

My first workaround was an aftermarket head unit.

My second was to trade it in on a Toyota.

LOL! I don't like either of those options.

Default Finally Updated to 4.6

I have had this thread subscribed for a long time, and I have always ignored the emails of updates. Last week I decided to finally read the thread and learn there was an update.

So I updated to 4.6 but I have a question. how long does it take?? looking at fords instructions seems like it should take 10-20 mins. After about 40 i had already reached my destination. and tired of sitting in the parking lot. I got the original "Install complete" but never the second one with an "OK" box to click. I uploaded the install file and it says it installed in sync, I have "Sync Reboot" option now. So I guess it installed correctly, maybe?

Still dont have default to Bluetooth.

My experience was it took 15 for the upgrade. The only time it defaults is if i turn off the truck while playing music from my phone via bluetooth. When restarting the truck it well start playing were it left off. Pluses to the upgrade was i can now see what song is playing on the trucks display. Realy did not notice anything else. :/

You would think this would be a easy menu item in the Settings Menu to set a default. =/ It's a major annoyance for us as well.

Sweet I just painfully updated my Sync and the Bluetooth stays on after the truck is shut off AND displays songs!!!! I went from a 15 Silverado Mylink decent system to a 14 Chevy SS laggy and not great to my 13 F150 which is almost prehistoric. LOL Thanks for the info guys

I just updated and now my Bluetooth and now whenever my phone (iPhone 7+, iOS 11.3.1) connects, SYNC automatically clicks the Repeat button and replays my first song if I don't notice it in time. Highly annoying.
