Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio

Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Yesterday I got in my truck, started it up, and started to try to connect my iPad. It took quite some time, had to shut the truck off a few times. First it says it couldn't find the device, next music started playing from my device (not the truck), and then the next thing I know Sync opens up a call and it's playing my music from within a phone call (makes it sound like waiting music). That actually happened twice in a row. I seriously had to pull over and restart my truck twice just to get it connected.

Don't worry, I'm sure it's only a "feature".

My 2015 goes back to the last used input...including bluetooth. The song even picks up where it left off, which surprised me today.

For what it's worth, about 6 months ago I posted a $10 band-aid solution to get around having to say "Bluetooth Audio" every time you start up.

This thread post #242

It's far from a perfect fix, but it's better than Cole's suggestion in that it actually accomplishes something. (Cole\Kim; you're banned from using it until you explain to us "valued Ford family members" why you cannot report this problem internally. I've pretty much had it with the Ford marketing double-speak)

It basically involves adding a cheap third party bluetooth device to the line-in audio jack. Your smartphone detects the bluetooth adapter when you start up, and your smart phone starts playing whatever media you've configured. This basically by-passes Sync's bluetooth connection only for Bluetooth Audio. Sync's bluetooth is still connected to your smartphone for phone calls, nav, text, etc.

After reading most of this thread, I think the best thing I ever did was not to upgrade my system after I bought my truck in 2013.

So glad to not have to deal with this hassle.

Article in ZDNet regarding Ford's plans for big data.

http://www.zdnet.com/article/fords-b...tag=TRE17cfd61

Looks like the comments section is a good place to get the word out about SYNC. If Ford's new plans for in-car systems are anything like SYNC, which they have had almost 10 years to make work correctly, then some poorly implemented data systems are in Ford's future.

Yeah this. Social media (other than this forum) is the place to really get attention about issues. Hit them on their fb page, tweet at them, etc.

Default Lets not worry about it

So, here's an article, which I haven't seen posted yet - Ford drops Microsoft for Apple - so, I think that our arguing with Ford is going to continue to fall on deaf ears.

Sorry!

Yes we all know. Why does the link say drops Microsoft for Apple when it's Blackberry's QNX system? lol

And this is one of the reasons why I hate to see big corporations like Ford and Microsoft or Apple, etc, getting so involved with each other. The back room deals these companies make involve big money and the only people who are hurt when things go south and partnerships dissolve are the consumers. Just because Ford hurt Microsoft's feelings or vice versa and they split up shouldn't mean we stop receiving updates to a system which clearly never worked properly since implementation. You would think there would have been some sort of contract for support in the agreement somewhere, standard stuff really.

If Ford really wanted to make a difference they should just develop that software in house and keep it proprietary and don't stop updating the system until it works.
