A/C Issue with 2013 Platty
Hi, I am having some issues with the A/C in my 2013 Platinum s/crew ecoboost. This week, on two seperate occaions, I started my truck and the A/C would not work. All the lights come on like it is functioning, but no air at all is blowing out. The cooled seats do work. The first time this happened, the air did kick on after 5 minutes or so of driving, the second time it did not (I only drove 4-5 miles the second time). It is pretty hot right now - low 90's, wondering if that has something to do with it? I am out of warranty, any suggestions would be great. Thanks
It's the standard unit that came with the truck, I am not sure what the high end unit is.
So today the fan stopped working altogether, for A/C and heat. The lights come on like it's working, but no air comes out at all. Any ideas? Thanks

I got in the truck today and the a/c and heat both work......
I am assuming that if they are functioning interimetly that it would not be the fuse? I am not mechanically inclined at all, wondering if this might be a bigger issue? Working on and off is not real good and has me worried, could it be some sort of fan or its motor?
Thanks

Acaps, you have the electronic system (high end) in the Platinum. Other than saying it could be the fan rely I have no idea. I'm as old as the "turn the **** the fan comes on" unit, so I'm not much help. Good luck.
Yes, I had a brain fart, in that Plat he should have the high end. Mine occasionally will do weird stuff, like even though not on auto, will all of a sudden ramp up in speed after running for 3-5 minutes!
Too complicated now days with electronics!

I'm no expert, but with the "automatic climate control" units (ie: high-end), I'm pretty sure they regulate based on data collected from various sensors ... outside temp, in-cab temp, etc.
I have that same unit in my 2014 FX4, and when it's hotter than hades outside, the unit takes a bit to start really blowing cold air. I'm pretty sure it starts off by trying to use those two huge fans under the hood to cool the system down first, then starts working to get the air cold enough to send to the cab so that it's not sending hot air in there and making things worse.
I've found that doing something to vent the hot air out as quick as possible (opening sunroof vent, lowering back windows a hair, opening sliding rear glass) will help get the cab temp down enough, quickly enough, to get the cold air coming out of the system.
Long story short, sounds like the system is working as designed. When I'd get concerned is if it NEVER starts blowing cold air.
