Default Buzzing sound at 50 mph.

Started last year in November, right at 50 mpg give or take a mph .Can feel it slightly in steering wheel and does it in 2 or 4wd and is worse with cold weather. Sounds like it is in the gauge cluster area. any ideas?

Do you have tires with a meatier grip then normal on them? I have wrangler duratracs with about 40k miles on them and now that they are getting to the end of their life they hum more and this buzzing noise will sometimes come from my steering wheel. It only does it at highway speeds 70 mph+ and more often on roads that have those lines cut into them to prevent hydroplaning. I'm wondering if anyone has removed all the plastic parts around the steering wheel and found the source of buzzing. I plan on trying to find the source as soon as it gets warmer.

I have Cooper ATP and they are some what noisy. Yesterday had tires rotated and balanced and buzzing was gone till it got cold again. I changed position on tilt wheel and think it is is coming from plastic piece. Tires must be transmitting up steering column. thanks for your reply.

I guess this is one benefit of my wife's car having steer by wire technology on her lexus, but you lose all feel of the road and vehicle through the steering wheel since they are not connected physically.
