Default Back-Up Camera Fix

I have a 2010 F150 SuperCrew 4x4 Platinum that I now have for sale since I got a 2015. The back-up camera, mounted in the tailgate under the Ford emblem and displayed on my screen, started getting jittery a few months ago. It would show a clear pic for a short time, sometimes it worked correctly but the next time the problem would occur. I tried disconnecting from the harness underneath, applying dielectric grease but that didn't seem to help very much. With the help of the guy that works at my wife's used car dealership, we loosened and tightened and loosened and tightened the ground wire over and over to get a good connection and that did it. Works every time now. I even took it into my local Ford garage and they didn't find the issue. Hoping this will save someone else some $$$.

Get under the rear of your truck and follow the wires coming from the tailgate until you see the wire that’s connected to the frame. I sold the 2010 that we did this repair on, so I can’t get a photo.
Hope this helps!

On the 2013 the camera ground is actually under the hood on the driver side near the radiator, highlighted in this diagram.
