Bumpy ride?!
So I purchased a 2010 XL back in February, the PO bolted a 6'x4' diamond plated steel plate to the bed. It wasn't in the best shape and it was trapping debris in the ribs of the bed. Plus, it was rusting quite a bit. I decided to remove it, but now the truck jumps all around going over bumps. I should have figured that would happen. Any suggestions on improving the ride? or should i resign myself to keeping that damn plate attached?
thanks!
thanks!
could just be the suspension is wore tf out and due to be replaced.
over inflated tires can cause this as well (kind of a long shot but worth mentioning), does it have a stock style tire? if they had all that in the back maybe they went a higher ply tire

monotube shocks will help control the ride much better over your 15yr old stock shocks. Bilstein 4600 is the stock replacement or you can upgrade to the 5100. I personally run the 5100 and it is definitely more planted.
Even without getting into which shocks are "best" or even really good. Just replace them with standard OEM equivalent shocks. They take about 10 minutes per side to change. easiest set of shocks I've ever replaced are the rears on these trucks.

I’d start with shocks. Struts/shocks seems to be in the list of parts that are overlooked and neglected a lot. I’ve had my ‘14 for 5 years at the end of this month and I’ve always known that the struts/shocks were worn out but kept putting them off till last summer where I finally crawled under the truck to check them out only to find out the truck still had the OEM shocks on it.
As mentioned the rears are easy to replace. The front struts aren’t to bad depending on how comfortable you are compressing the springs
