Default Bumper removal

My idea in how I remove the front bumper on my 2013 FX4? I'm getting it rhino lined to stop the chips from rusting... Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

There are 4 nuts that hold it to frame. I lifted the hood to remove the top 2 and under bumper for the bottom 2.HTH

So I don't have to remove the headlights or anything else right? Aside from disconnecting the fog lights, it's only 4 bolts? Any video or literature on this anywhere? Thanks!

I'm doing the same thing. Went to Line-X yesterday and they suggested I remove it before having it done. Was going to check out the bolts, brackets, etc.

Won't be doing it for a couple weeks.

Keep us updated.

I had an 05 fx4, with the charcoal gray bumper. I don't think I had 4 or 5 chips in that bumper in the first couple years. In the 5 months I've had this white fx4, I've touched it up 10 times already.
I still live in the same house. Travel route isn't any different. Either the paint is cheaper, or it's just my s**t luck.

If you are just removing the bottom part of the bumper. Yes. There are 2 bolts in either side of the frame ends. And I believe there is a bracket in each fender well as well. If I remember correctly, been awhile since I've taken one off. Next time I do, I'll have to do a "how to"

Not sure about the "bottom part", it's the part that it steel and has the license plate attached to it... It has a middle part that's plastic as well if that helps...

Thanks!

Yes. The bumpers are 2 piece, the top pad is plastic. And the bottom is steel. Body tech here at work told me you can take the steel bottom off without removing the top plastic pad. Though you may need to remove the 3 bolts that feed down from the top pad towards the bottom. Not totally sure. If you were doing the top pad as well, you'd need to remove the headlights, and get at the bolts that feed up into the fenders. Like I said, I haven't taken one off in a long time ago, I'm also not totally sure on bolt sizes, etc.

This sounds correct to me. If you are just removing the bottom steel part of the bumper, the top plastic pad that is under the headlights and goes across the front can stay on.

I removed the steel bottom part when I replaced my bumper. Can't comment on how to remove the top plastic though...

For the steel bottom there are 4 large nuts (21mm I think) that hold the bumper to the frame. There are also two smaller nuts that are about 18 inches apart that hold the hood release latch to the bumper. You can't see these from the top, if I remember correctly they are facing inwards toward the radiator. After that, it should come right off.
