Default Break in mileage

What is the optimum mileage to consider your truck broken in?

I'm suprised so many people indicated 1000 miles only. I know the manual states to drive differently for the first 1000 miles but, c'mon don't tell me the engine is fully broken in after just a 1000 miles....

I couldn't swear to it but I always figured about 10,000 miles for motor and running gear to really loosen up in good shape and fuel milage to improve. I'm sure I'll get some beating on this but just my 2 cents

I thought I saw on the 2012 ordering info that the engine break in period was 2000 to 3000 miles

Thats probably when the most crucial break in is but I still believe it continues to break in beyond that

I don't remember what the manual said. I know I read it but manual and public opinion is often different.

I figured I would get some flack on this post. Something like RTFMS (Read The F'n Manual Stupid).

The manual says 1000 miles but you will get more acurate fuel milage after 2 to 3000 miles but I still believe it takes longer and I'm waiting for more opinions especially from someone that has owned several new vehicles
