Default Bread and Butter speed?

What motor and gear ratios are you all running and what speed do you find giving you the best fuel consumption?

I'm running a 5.0 Screw with 3.73's and still trying to figure it out...lol

4.6 3V with 3.55 LS. 50mph at 1100 rpm is the money spot for me

the best mileage is the MPH where your sixth gear engages

You need an obd2 scanner to monitor real time fuel consumption. I use the scangauge II and it works well, I can get (among a bunch of other things) real time mileage and fuel consumption. I find the best fuel mileage at about 70-90 km/h regardless of gear. It goes down slowly above and below that sweetspot.

Oh, I have 2010 5.4 with 3.55 gears so I'd expect this to vary a bit based on your particular setup.

I'm found that cruising between 65 and 75 gets me the best, as long as I'm not doing too much acceleration. (5.4 with 3.73 gears)

Recently drove from Columbia, SC to Atlanta, GA. I set the cruise and did the speed limit the whole way (65-70) and averaged 19.6 mpg.

For the record I have a 2010 Lariat Supercrew 4x4 with the 3.55 gears and 14,XXX miles on it.

I'd be interested in finding that out on my truck once I get a few more things repaired and can get reliable mpg numbers. I'm sure the speed is 55-60 mpg on my 5.0L with 3.55 gears

50 to 60 MPH will be the best if its not too hilly. For every 10 MPH gain expect about a 2 MPG loss. With my 5.0 I can get mid 20s mpg running 50 to 60 mph.I get 20 mpg running 70 mph.Pushing the big box faster through the air requires more HP. Mine is a 5.0 4X4 with 3.73 gears, reg cab.
