Default Brakes and Rotors

Its time for new brakes and rotors for my 2014 Screw. I talked to Ford and they said it would be $567 installed, or if they can turn the current rotors it would be $290. I read the forums, and it seems a lot of people use Powerstop with good results. I can get PowerStop non slotted/drilled rotors and pads for $319 shipped, or their Z23 kit that is slotted/drilled for $430.

I guess my question is, would the Powerstop non slotted/drilled kit still be better then what I would get from Ford (which I'm guessing is Motorcraft)? I’m not looking for anything fancy, just good brakes for a reasonable price. I was going to have them change these the same time hey installed new tires and Bilstein 5100's in the front, but now I'm thinking It might be beneficial if i just change the brakes myself instead.

My quicklane has a special of 99.95 an axle for just pads. I’m gonna do that - my rotors are fine

My location has that deal as well, but unfortunately I'm in need of rotors as well.

My dealership quoted me $1150.00 for pads and rotors on all four.

Just ordered Motorcraft pads and rotors for $370 and will do it myself.

Dealer wanted nearly 900 for all 4 corners, rotors and pads. I opted to go with the powerstop z36 kit and love it.

I just had my front & rear pads replaced for $488.00. Some shops are an absolute rip off but what can you do in an emergency situation.

The Powerstop rotors seem to be comparable to Motorcraft. Go with the non-slotted if they're cheaper, there really isn't a benefit to drilled/slotted on a street vehicle.

I went with Bendix Rotor and Pads at rock auto. My right front was wiped out at 30k miles. Very happy with the Bendix, but they have good pricing on Powerstop, Raybestos, and many other brands. I paid about 25 for the pads and 45 for each rotor. Easy breezy to change.

Here'a a post I did on another forum, but I believe the R1 brake rotors would perform just as well on an F-150. I wrote this for my 2012 Tahoe, so if you can get past the Bowtie pics, it will show what they looked like. I current have 155,000 miles on this vehicle (R1 rotors installed at 86,000 miles). They still look good & function very well. I used ceramic pads, no dust or noise.

I posted this to say thanks for all the good info & how to efforts you've all done, that helped me greatly.

Installed R1 Rotors on my 2012 Tahoe at 86,000 miles. Smooth braking, no issues. I chose drilled only because of an SAE paper that showed drilled has a measurable improvement in brake cooling, (see http://papers.sae.org/2006-01-0691/ ). Also, when I called R1 (online price with discount was $313, free shipping) and asked, I received a discount, so total was $274, free shipping. These are the E-Line drilled rotors F&R, no pads. By hand feel, they were heavier than the stock rotors. I prefer to use Advance Auto "Gold" ceramic pads. Work good, last long time, no/low brake dust. have over 250,000 miles of experience with these pads on 4 different vehicles.

Second review is the Airaid Jr intake tube. Install was straight forward. Didn't notice any addition noise at speed (steady at 20-30-45-60-70 mph). Did hear the difference on a 0-70 mph WOT, also felt a slight performance improvement (based on my scientifically calibrated seat of pants!).

Updated mileage info on Airaid Jr.: Using before & after DIC mileage each which included a week of commuting & a 450 mile round trip (as close to apples to apples as I could manage), my milage went from 17.6 (before) to 18.6 (after) Airaid Jr. install.

Thanks Folks!
