Default Brakes?

My front rotors have warped again. Any recommendations for rotor upgrades on my 09 Ford F150 4X4?

Haven't had problems when the pads don't have any metal in them, just check them with a magnet.

EBC slotted and dimpled rotors and EBC green stuff pads from AJUSA.com, they gave me a discount for being a forum member here. This is what they look like on my 2009 FX4... they stop better too.

We just added the powerstop complete kit to our FX4 5.0L yesterday. We will have write up and pics later today. Here is the link for a 2009 FX4.

I used Powerstop on my last truck and will be putting them on this truck. Along with ceramic pads, this combination worked very, very well. I tow 6K on a weekly basis in the Summer and we have extreme winters as well. No warping, excellent stopping* and little to no brake dust.

*I had more than one "emergency stop" where people directly cut me off and the grip of this combo stopped my rig on a dime.

I had them in use for 1.5 years before selling my truck. They were very easy to install - I did all 4 corners in my driveway.

over torqueing with impact wrench will cause rotors to warp. just a heads up, may not be what caused your problems, but something to think about.

Are you bedding the pads properly? That is commonly misdiagnosed as warped rotors. Improperly bedded pads will leave a deposit of pad material on the rotors, and create a high spot, and give brake jutter.

I agree!!!! Very good point. It aggravates the hell out of me to see shops using "torque sticks" to install wheels. I always double check mine with a torque wrench if a shop has to remove my wheels.

This. Rotors rarely warp. And if they did turning them wouldn't help.

Between bad bedding of pads and heavy braking you will get irregular pad transfer that makes it feel pulsing.

Try this. Fix the rotors. And From now on when you stop, slowly allow the truck to roll forward a few feet. This prevents hot pads from transferring a bunch of material in one spot and gives it time to cool.

Problem will not reappear. Switching to better pads helps too.
