Default Brakes?

I'm somewhat new to driving in non plateau like terrain out here in Denver. I don't ride my brakes hard at all, but at 14000 miles they started squeaking like its time for a change. I've only been up here for the last 7000 miles. Typically I can go way past the recommended mileage. Is this much wear this soon normal up here?

If you drive gravel roads you can get rocks in your brakes. I've had my pickup in Colorado on mostly gravel roads for about 15K miles and mine haven't started squeaking. My dad's 05 has however, usually just requires a cleaning. If that doesn't help it then you may need new brakes but I'd try cleaning first.

I only got 45,000 kms, about 30K miles, out of my OEMs. Lots of dust, noise, and when I popped them off, the rear side of both fronts, were pitted. Big thumbs down for the OEM brakes- large suckage!!

Very little dust and no gravel roads, only the squeaking. I'll try the cleaning, but if they need replacing I won't be a happy camper. Brake pads should last way longer.

Should. But sometimes they don't. Even if you aren't beating on them...which is what allot of people on here will say that you're doing...which I'm sure you're not. I did mine at 22k. Replaced with hawk pads and centrix rotors. Best thing i ever did.
