Default 2011 Oil Leak (5.0)

Hey guys...first post here. I've recently purchased a used 2011 F150 w/5.0L engine. The past two days I've noticed a 2"x2" oil leak under the truck. Anyone experience this? Any idea where it could be coming from?

Have you looked under the truck? Where are you seeing the spot, front, mid or rear of truck? Could be anything from engine, transmission, power steering, gear oil but the location will tell you what it is.

Is there a Jiffy Lube sticker in the top left of the window?

It's still under warranty and will be taking it in later this week. The spot is about 12" from the front air dam right in the middle of the truck. I haven't had the oil changed since I bought it. I noticed the spot on the driveway yesterday morning and I had driven about 200 miles at highway speeds the day before.

They probably changed the oil when it was traded in and these things drip oil for days if you don't get them cleaned off good.

Haha! I was going to ask whether or not you have recently changed the oil in your truck cause the little "oil pan" under the filter is worthless. I changed mine last month and that thing does nothing but catch all the oil and leave it there to sit until you either clean it up or spray it out.

I had some oil come off that drain pan under the oil filter as normal, but it left most if not all the oil that came from taking that filter off.

Kind of made me mad and I thought about just modifying it or getting rid of it completely, but I'll decide that on the next oil change. Which isn't until about 4,000 miles, so I got some extra time to think about it.

If you haven't just changed the oil and the truck is still under warranty. Then I would just take it to your local dealer and have them deal with it right now.

May not have got the plug in all the way or they cross threaded it. Or the oil filter is loose. A quick look under the truck would give you an answer.

That's why I asked about Iffy Lube.
