Default Brake problem

So I had new brakes put on a couple months ago (Hawk brand) and the rear makes a grinding noises when I come to a complete stop and when I let off the brake from a stop. Also noticed a bit of a squeal occasionally. Took it to ford and got the "everything is in spec" and "that's just a characteristic of the truck".

Any ideas what the deal could be? I've consider swapping out the pads with OEM and see what happens. Also note that I changed the front rotors but not the rear ones.

Did you apply grease to the new brackets or old ones when you installed them?

Is grinding normal? No. So you may very well need a new brake job, and or a new mechanic. It is possible that the rotors were rusted a bit on the backsides, or the insides where the e-brakes are, and now they have rusted more, causing the noise.

Was the brake job a full replacement with rotors and everything or just pads?

Yeah I think that may be next move. May just replace rear rotors as well. The truck brakes fine but the noise doesn't fly with someone as OCD as me

Mine squeak every now and then I did the same as you did. Everything up front and just pads in the rear. It probably is the new pads on the old rotors in the rear.

My next move may be a new rotor back there and see if that helps then. Thanks for your input!

Just curious....

So you have a grinding noise when stopping and when letting off the brakes and Ford said everything is normal? Did they drive the truck to duplicate the noise or did they just put it on the rack and give it a visual inspection?
