Default Brake controller

Hey everyone, I have a 2012 without tow package, and I'm looking to add the 7 pin harness and factory brake controller. I've looked around and keep finding mixed answers on wether or not the brake controller needs to be flashed, any suggestions?

Mixed? Never seen anyone say that it did not. Either the dealer, or use FORScan or the OEM controller will not work.

Aftermarket is stand alone, Ford's is integrated in the software.

The controller itself does not need to be "flashed", but the IPC (aka Instrument Panel Cluster) module in the truck does need to be told that the controller has been installed.

This can be done either by using Forscan with a compatible OBDII adapter or by your dealer.

Harness is already there. Confirmed when I pulled the trim out, and the harness for the the 7 pin is there as well. It's tucked in about 4" behind the 4 pin connector. I just need the 7pin plug and mount.
