Default Bought a 2010...

Picked one up...4X4 Crew Cab, 120k for $12K...So far everything seems to work fine...Will post a couple pics later...Cab corners show rust and rockers are rusterd pretty good where they attach...Only driven it about 40 mi to get home so no real time in it yet..Flex fuel too...Anything to keep my eye on that comes to mind?...

I’d change all the fluids and wouldn’t use the flex fuel. You’ll probably get coolant leaks in the near future if it doesn’t have them now. It’s a used truck so if it was me I’d drive it like I want it to keep running and not like I stole it which is how I’m starting to drive mine now at 9 years old and 108,000 miles.

Yeah, basic servicing, well, more advanced servicing due to mileage and age, but 12k? seriously? for something the body is rusting off?!

Believe me, I looked hard for a month ...Sure, I could have driven a few hundred miles or looked at many others BUT most that I inquired said there WAS rust 'somewhere' and a lot of the photos showed rust...This is actually a fairly easy fix according to 2 guys I know that DO bodywork..The cab corners are 'just' showing and I hope to get the underneath secured for winter...Frame and undercarriage appear fine..LOL...Plus, according to MOST people I asked about the rust, their reply was "It is a 2010"...

5W-30 and a filter from your Ford dealer. First thing I would do. Also, when I used to buy high mileage 5.4L trucks, I would change out the plugs and maybe the coil packs. That would make a world of difference in mileage and how smooth the engine ran afterwards. Beware of Chinese fakes on amazon and eBay.

Prices are wild. I poked around a bit and 2009-2014 crew cab trucks under $12k is slim pickings, most are rusty.

Can't get anything that low. My daughter said screw it this year, leased a new car at $28k instead of buying a ~100k mile at $15-20k. Under 60k mile examples of the same car were priced higher than the new one. Unreal.

House prices falling, automobile repos are rising, Fed chairman Jerome Powell didn’t mince words when he said it’s gonna be rough.
