Default Blower removal

My 2009 5.4 6spd has a whistle when the fan is set to high. It almost sounds like a small leaf is vibrating and causing a whistling noise. The blower is silent in all other, lesser, speeds. Knowing there is no cabin air filter in the system, I would like to remove the blower and clean around that area and make sure it's spinning freely. Is it difficult to remove just the fan motor and squirrel cage assembly? Anyone done this? Any info appreciated.

I have a 2010 and I seem to be having some problems when it's on speed 1 this year so I'd also be interested in removing it to inspect.

I'm having this issue now as well. I get a low hum that gets considerably louder as I turn up the fan speed.

Is there an easy way to check and see if something has gotten stuck in the blower motor?

Hopefully it's not that difficult. If it is at least I already have an appoint set up with the dealership to look at my TPMS sensor fault in a couple of weeks. Just sucks that I will have to listen to the hum for a couple of weeks, lol.

Any updates on this blower motor issue? My 2009 FX4 is having similar whistling fan symptons and can't seem to find any threads or information on how to remove the blower motor.

See the part here on my video.

Shouldn't have to pull the dash for simple blower....

This is 3rd winter with my 2010 and I never had a problem with heating until this winter. I always have it set on #1 but this winter I find myself alsways changing between #1 and #2 on the fan setting. When on #1 it doesn't push as much air as it use too and when I change it to #2 I can hear it wabling and ratling sound from the fan for about 10 secs. After about a minute I have to put it back on #1 because it starts getting to hot. On a 45min drive, I find myself doing this quite often now when it cold outside.

I'd be really interested in seeing how to change the fan motor.
