All I can say is it is just like anything else in life. "You get what you pay for" more money better stuff. Air bags $300.00 Add a leaf $150.00 Blocks $199.00 with front leveling kit.

YouTube has great video on air bag install. About an hour for both sides

How heavy is the boat. Lets assume that you have 10% of that weight is tongue weight. If you are talking a 6000# boat, then you would have 600# tongue weight.

Unless the tongue is extremely heavy, yes you should have no problem towing a boat a few times a year. The rear may squat but that isn't a problem. As the rear squats, the headlights will point high so that could be an issue at night. If you do cross country trips, then I would suggest some AALs or airbags. I have towed and had a good load in the bed without issued, topper too. I do cross country trips so I will be adding an AAL.

If the tongue is extremely heavy, you may need to adjust the trailer weight or use weight distribution on your hitch. An extremely heavy tongue will actually lift weight off the front wheels and you will have light steering. This light steering could cause a dangerous condition.

Airbags bolt onto the frame and axle. You can run them low when not needed so they don't change the ride. They can have air leaks. You can run a pump or just have a valve that you air them up with.

The AAL, you will need to unbolt the axle, slip the leaf in, reinsert the centering pin, and reattach the axle. This can be done at home and is not that hard.

Thanks F250, the boat is about 3k, which is prob the max id have to deal with unless I decided to go bigger in the future in which case Id for sure look into the back end.

But at 3k you think it would be a big hassle?

The tongue should be about 300#. The rear will squat a little (like an inch). You should have no problems with the stock springs. Even if you were towing this across the country a few times a year, I wouldn't worry about it.
