Default Black running boards for 2011 FX4

I've got a deposit down on a 2011 Sterling Gray FX4 ... it has the features I want (leather, 20" wheels, rear camera) except for the lack of running boards. Chrome will look totally out of place on the FX4, and due to having older passengers on occasion tube step bars would be a bad idea.

So I'm looking at the OEM FX4 running boards (6" black painted angular) if the aftermarket price isn't outrageous. Westin Sure-Grip running boards in black or brushed aluminum also seem like a good choice. Any suggestions on which of these would be better, or other black or non-chrome running boards to consider, would be helpful. Thanks.

Get a cheap set, and have them bed-liner'd.

i will be putting my stainless steel luvernes back on mine. i will have the exact same truck home tomorrow. i held the bars up to it and they actually look pretty good against the gray wheels and gray paint.

+1 on the cheap set + having them taken to a Line-X shop. The advantage of this is twofold -- they look good, and they will have plenty of grip.

i'm patiently waiting for my 11 Sterling grey fx4 ecoboost 6.5' box and am planning to run the N-fab wheel to wheel black step bars... the black on the sterling grey will look good with any step bars

I have the same truck 2011 Fx4 screw Sterling grey 5.0 loaded with the oem 6 inch boards they are nice but they seem to be half way under the truck, I am thinking of getting the AMP power boards. You are going to love your new truck. Dave

Have you thought about having a set powder coated to match the wheels?

I have the grime angulars on a 2011 Lariat - don't get 'em. Pain in the **** to keep clean so far.

I like the idea of line-x in them. May look at powder coating, too, since there's a place nearby.

Stainless sounds better than chrome, but I'm not sure how stainless would go with the gunmetal gray wheels, while I know that a black running board like ...

will look good against the other gray and black of the FX4. But other options for me to condsider would be welcome.
