Default Black Bumpers

I have a 2014 XLT with chrome bumpers. Looking to put black bumpers on the truck, like the FX4 I guess. Do people typically paint their chrome bumpers? Or just try to aquire some FX4 bumpers?

Or possibly bed line their bumpers? Any pics of that?

A friend just did the conversion to his truck, found a XL in the wrecking yard that had straight bumpers and painted them to match. He painted the Chrome and the paint chips then peels way easier than mine. I do not think he did the correct prep on them though.
You might get lucky and find a FX or STX that is already painted Black also.

Vinyl wrap. Cheap and very durable. Not messy and only takes a few hours.

Plastidip chips too easy. I constantly had to keep touching up my plastidip. Did vinyl and haven't touched it in 2 years

I'm planning on doing vinyl on my bumpers too. Just trying to find which brand/style is best. I hear the 3m 1080 is good stuff but I have no first hand experience

The wheels and bumpers were plasti dipped on my old truck, The bumpers started looking bad after 4 years. The wheels still looked good when I sold it.

I had the chrome bumpers on mine. I bought painted ones and had them linexd. Best decision I made. Friend of mine didn't want to spend the no e.g. and painted them and he has stone chips and they are rusting already

If money is no object, then a bumper swap to something like Ranch Hand, Iron Cross, ICI might be a good option for you. If not, then vinyl wrap might be just what you need. Less mess and very durable.

Hope that helps!
