Default Bilstein vs Icon

My Ride : 2009 F150 4x4 supercrew 6.5 box King Ranch 315k Km only maintance has been oil changes regularly mobile 1 oil and brakes

I have read numerous threads on the bilstein shocks and most people say the ride is better then before but im not sure what is ment by better is it a stiffer ride . So what i am looking for is i want my truck to ride like it did when it was brand new Is that even possible. I have never changed the shocks on my truck did the ball joints 150k km ago. so yes it has been neglected but i am trying to rectify that. I want to replace the shocks and springs all around but i am torn between the Icon stage 1 kit for 1700USD (about 2150 Canadian) or the bilstein 5100 and new OEM springs for around 900 Canadian. What else should i change while apart Upper / lower control arms, ball joints, bushings ?

Are the Icons worth the more than double the price or should i stay with the bilsteins. Icon says then will rebuild every 40k miles for free. How long will the bilsteins last ?
I am not going off rd other than rough gravel rds but mostly pavement highway driving.
I would appreciate any and all advice you can give me.

Thanks SDF

If your springs are not damaged, reuse them with new OEM struts and shocks. That would give you the ride you're looking for.

Thanks paintballdude05 I think my front springs are sagging because my front tires just recently started rubbing on my mud flaps when i turn and they never have done that before. Any other things is should check or change ?

Bilstein 5100 and Icon 2.5" coilovers are two different beasts. Their valving is no where near similar, and their compression and rebound are drastically different too.
Bilstein is linear/progressive, and Icon is digressive. Google can further explain the differences.

If you're mostly a daily driver, then the 5100s will feel like a drastically improved stock ride. You may feel that the Icons are too firm for daily use, but they will excel off the pavement.

Thanks MCDavis, is there anything else i should look at to get my ride back to new ? Looks like i will be going with the 5100's and new springs.

Take it from me, if you're a progressive driver, the Bilsteins will end up feeling like you're driving a motorhome. The Icons will do a great job, but will you "use" the expensive set up? My solid recommendation is to contact Halo Lifts.com (F150Lifts.com) and get a BOSS coilover set up for the front. You won't regret it, and you'll have some cash left over for another mod for your truck. Call Alex at Halo (vendor on this site). (you don't have to have any actual lift if you don't want)

If you want stock new smooth ride again you're best bet is to go with oem or simular shocks. Either one of those other two are going to be firmer, you will notice it.
