Default Bilstein Setting Help

Hey guys, I've been reading on and off all day and can't find what I'm looking for...

I just purchased a 2012 FX4 SCREW 5.5 bed. Today I ordered front and rear 5100's from CJUSA, great price guys!

I'd like to have them set to give me a slight rake, since I do tow a camper a several times a year. Since I'm taking them to a shop, I'd like to have them set right the first time. Does anyone have the same setup? I have read that the FX4 already is .5 higher in the front over stock, but I'm not sure if that is 100% true???? Suggestions on settings? I'd prefer to have as much lift possible, but not sag when towing. I do have a WD hitch setup.

I have also consider adding an AAL, but CJUSA suggested that I try the 5100's first. Any thoughts?

Hope I can. I have 2011 fx4. Bilsteins all way round. I set them at highest setting, 2.25". It set pretty much perfectly level. I loved it and the ride. I then added the superspring ssa28 kit at lowest level in back, which ended up giving me probably a 3/4 rake. Still looks perfect to me though. When I tow my 6000lb boat, the truck is level. I would suggest u put them on max and try them out, then u could add an aal or superspring to raise rear. One question, how big of rims and tires u trying to squeeze in there, that will play big role.

I have the same truck and wanted the same result. Put your front Bilsteins on the 2nd ring from the bottom. I believe Bilstein indicates this will give you a .75" lift but it actually gives 1". Lifting the front 1" will leave you with a slight rake of 1" in the rear and is perfect IMO.

I've got the same thing planned. I'll be adding the roadmaster active suspension system to my 2013 when it arrives which is going to raise the rear 1.5"-2.25" depending what setting I use on it. The Bilsteins sound like the correct answer up front to level the truck out. I'd like to maintain .5"-1" rake. I pull a 26' enclosed snowmobile trailer @ roughly 5000#. Sounds like I will want to use the highest setting also running stock wheels and tires?

Now I'm wondering if raising the truck front and back with stock wheels/tires will look funky?

Yea that sounds perfect. Ur setup will b much like mine. I would suggest highest setting in front. And honestly, I bet it will look kinda weird raising that high with all stock. U could probably get away w just buying larger tires instead of runs and tires. But u never know till u do it.

here's mine with the 5100's on it at the 1.5" lift setting (3rd setting) on the front. I love the look and it rides great. When i tow my 7000lb travel trailer it sits just about perfectly level, if i want i can put a few more lbs of air int he airbags and lift it up a little.I have roughly 1" of rake when the airbags are empty and i'm not towing.

Sounds like mine. To start from the beginning... I had a 2 inch rake from factory. I added the RAS and put to the lowest level which added .75 rise. Im sitting now at 2.75 rake. I plan on adding the Bilstien and setting at 3rd level. ( 1.5-1.75 as some are getting ) This will leave me with 1-1.25 rake... PERFECT for hauling a load or hauling a trailer as each will lower your rear about 1 inch with the added RAS applied. I feel is going to 4th setting ( 2.25 ) and only having .5 rake will sit nose high when hauling a trailer ( of course.. you could always tighen up the RAS to give you over an inch rise... ) but I feel without going to 34 or 35 tires.. the wheel well will look empty with stock or even the next size up tire. I plan on going 275-70-18 BG Goodrich or Cooper STmaxx on stock rims with Bilstien at 3rd level and the RAS at lowest tention. If you want to to fill those wheel wells up then go 4th setting on Bilstien, more tension on your RAS and 295-70-18 tires ( if you are in fact running 18's )

The Platinums all come with 20's. Truck will be my wifes daily driver highway queen. About 40 miles each way. I may do the shackle mod and lower the rear after the RAS install and just maintain factory rack or less by bringing the rear down. I want to upgrade tires for the winter for safety reasons, not go larger to fill in the wheel wells. Decisions

If I understand you correctly, you want to use RAS to raise the back 1.5-2.25"

I don't think RAS will do that. I was the original one that purchased the RAS and tested it... and I don't think it's possible.

I put it at it's tightest setting and got .75" height - but no more.

If I misunderstood your post, apologies and ignore mine.
