Default Bilstein 5100 and EPAS Questions

Hi all,

I am installing the bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks to level my 2011 f150 xlt 4x4 ecoboost (3.5L V6). At first I was looking into spacer kits and the instructions often said to disassemble the EPAS (Electronic Powered Assisted Steering) before installing the leveling kit. However, when I read the instructions about installing the 5100s it never says anything about this.

Ive heard all of the horror stories about not disconnecting EPAS and I was wondering if I should disconnect it while installing these shocks?

Also Does anyone happen to know where the EPAS cables are?

Thanks
Cam

You can also disconnect the battery instead of unplugging the EPAs.

I have the same truck and have been thinking of putting on the Bilsteins also. Is a alignment necessary after the install?

Replacing the struts doesnt involve the steering rack. I have installed these and others no need to unplug the rack or disconnect the battery.

Misinformation.

Just because yours wasn't affected, doesn't mean others won't be. The problem comes from the banging to get the components loose.

The same reason we shouldn't plow unless you have the 6.2L (which has hydraulic steering).

I just unhooked the battery on mine when installing my ICON's. Better safe than sorry is right.
