Default Big 3 caused check charging system error

SOLVED

Short version - I installed my big 3, monitoring it with a stinger volt meter. I'm reading the normal 14.4v (yes I checked and calibrated it with a tester multiple times)
My grounds were all sanded before being bolted in place
All wires are tight
Everything is fastened in with ring terminals using true 0 gauge
I should also mention that I didn't get to finish my big 3 on my first attempt so it took me 2 nights total. The first night I had my ground wires ran and drove with the original positives. I didn't get this error until I hooked up my new positive wires&terminal.

Side note: After I first finished the install I was reading 14.8-15v with the engine running, it dropped down to 14.4 on its own overnight.

Any idea what I might be missing? I checked over everything I did several times but other than needing to replace the wire that goes to my fuse box, I'm not sure whats causing this and how serious it is.

It can be a major inconvenience when the truck starts to shed load because it thinks the battery is going dead. Did you run your wires thru the rings on the negative to body/frame? And on the positive? That is required per your owners manual and service manual. FWIW I do not think it is needed on this vehicle.

What exactly do you mean run the wires thru the rings? Do you mean having extra wire sticking out after the point of where I crimped the ring terminal on?

Nope. Look at the original wire from the battery to the body. It passes thru a ring. Same for the wire to the alternator. Those rings are used to sense current flow and calculate battery state of charge as well as alternator output.

It looks like he has an 09, I don't think it came with the current draw ring.

I tried looking into what you meant and if your referring to the "BMS" system then no my 09 doesn't have that. Just straight forward negative and positive terminals

I figured it out, my own stupid mistake. The secondary wire coming off of the alternator positive wire wasn't hooked up. I gave it power and my reading changed to 14.1 and no more check charging system warning. Live and learn
