It's right up there with the backup camera and tailgate step as must have options, especially on the 5.5ft bed.

I wish they all came with one.I should have discussed the dealership throwing one in when I purchased. It is a $190.00 option when on the truck new but costs almost $500.00 when trying to buy afterwards from the dealership.

I like mine, there are times when I have to haul a lot of stuff for work and it comes in handy. I like it better than the Aluminum one in my 02. I like the ridgidity of the old one, but I like the folding feature on the new one. The plastic does seem a bit flimsy, which is why they added the little rod that slips down into your tailgate. So yeah they are great fold out for more room, fold in to keep groceries and small stuff from rolling around, or fold flat to keep it out of the way. Go for it.

I bought the old-fashioned kind from Craigslist for just $35. I have used it quite a bit, but now I have a stroller in the back and it gets in the way so its just sitting in the shed.

Try checking online at fordparts.com - you can search by VIN or year/model. They'll list the part number and the MSRP (the complete kit for a 2010 F150 lists for $365) and usually have a link to a picture of the part. You can then select dealers by name or zip code, and if they participate in the online order process, you can see their pricing. You'd be surprised at the difference from one dealer to the next (I got my bed extender shipped via UPS from a dealer in NJ for around $250 shipped).

I ordered it from Warnock Ford in Morristown, NJ. I called up and spoke with the Parts Dept manager (I think his name is Dave??)
