BCM or not?
Good afternoon.
So Thursday my 2013 Eco Boost Off Road hit 100,000 miles. On Friday I had the newest transmission recall fixed. On Saturday I didn't go anywhere. Then comes Sunday and we load up our side by side on the trailer, hook up to my truck and head for the mountains. 50 miles of pavement and 7 miles of seriously bumpy dirt roads we arrive at our destination. Beautiful day, pavement free.
Load everything up and head back down the bumpy road. We just touch pavement with all 4 tires, stop at a stop sign, step on the gas go a few feet and lose the throttle, the truck is still running. Of course the next thing is the orange wrench popping up on the dash and then the check engine. We pull over, I tell my husband to turn off my truck and restart it. It starts fine but check engine light still on, we drive a few feet and lose throttle again and, get this, roll to a stop in an Oreily auto parts store parking lot. The kid comes out and hooks up to the truck and says, "Oh this is bad", just what I want to hear. The following are a few of the messages he gets.
U0140 - Lost Communication with Body Control Module (GEM)
U0100 - Lost Communication with ECM
U0151 - Lost Communication with Restraint Control Module
U0131 - Lost Communication with Power Steering Control Module
U0452 - Invalid Data Received from Restraints Control Module
Yeah, I'm thinkin this is BAD.
I get on the internet and Google the BCM, watch a few videos, take notes, because dealers love that, and get on here to ask if anyone else has experience this issue? Does anyone think it's a little weird all of these codes start throwing right after the dealer hooks up to the computer portion of my transmission for the recall fix?
Thoughts and experience please.
Thanks, Heather - Southwest Colorado

Throttle body is the most common concern and not just the F series trucks. We have a fleet of 2016 Transit 250 vans and all of them went thru the same failure and every one of them was a bad throttle body. Only way to know is diagnostics.

You were so right. The dealer was able to get my truck in for diagnostics and that's exactly what they told me. I felt confident with your advice and them repeating it. Yay! Thanks
