Default Battery management questions

I read where someone undid this feature. Is there a negative to doing that likewise is there a positive to doing it (nice play on words there huh). I do have an aftermarket amp and subwoofer and plan to go bigger with both. Is this battery management system smart enough to compensate? Or would bypassing it just have the alternator always be charging the battery which don’t sound bad to me??

With it you are supposed to be saving gas, but you are talking a percentage of a mile per gallon, without it it runs like the old systems did where your alternator quits charging when the battery is charged. Just so you know the 6.2 did not have the BMS on it so it really was to try and raise Fleet MPG and they knew it wouldn't help on it.

I haven't found a negative result yet. It will give a DTC since it is unplugged. I believe to get effective use of the sensor (still plugged in) with a lot of aftermarket draw, you should run the aftermarket negative wires through the sensor, also.

I did it on my 2013 F150 because I pull a trailer most of the time. The trailer has a battery in it that needs charged.

The system works great.

Incorrect on giving a DTC code, I took mine off 2 years ago and have not gotten a DTC code.

I also removed mine because I run an aftermarket sub/amp combo, haven't had an issue and mpg never dropped.

It does trigger a DTC code but it does not turn on the CEL. Mines been disconnected for years. When I check with FORScan for DTC it is there in the background.

Yes, always a code. Readable by advanced devices only. I have 2 that show it, one that does not.

I guess, if you really have no code, even in Forscan, there is probably a wiring problem. Or BCM.
