Default b.s. ford performance

i have a 2011 5.0 fx4 supercrew and it is acting like it has a 850 holley duel feed double pumper carb on it. i try to speed up and all it does is load up. i give it more gas and then it downshifts 3 gears and rev high and then takes off. i had it back to the dealer and he said he put the updated tune in it from ford. it also has the shudder when it shifts up. what do you have to do to make this truck drive normal??

Why would you go after a custom tune on a vehicle that clearly is broken? This needs to be repaired, and then a custom tune can be an option if the output isn't adequate when everything's working properly.

It's not broken, it is the lag for the kick down when you mash it to the floor as in a passing situation. These trucks are drive by wire and there is throttle lag when pushing the gas pedal, when you go to pass, you slam the pedal and the truck does as he describes, it dosn't respond then it kicks down gears and goes fianally.

A custom tune from 5 star modifies the shift stratagies and gets rid of the lag so there is instant throttle response.

A bit of throttle lag is one thing. What the OP describes is a truck that would never have been released to the press for reviews or bought by anyone after a test drive. His description has nothing to do with minor nuisance issues, but of legitimate problems that need to be addressed (unless he's tremendously overstating what is happening).

Ok, go read all the other threads about the throttle kick down when trying to pass. His situation sounds very similar.

I have the custom tunes and the tranny is 100% better so i better not let the press drive mine or they will really wonder why Ford released the tranny into the wild with that shift stratagy! lol

It isn't throttle lag that is messing him up, it is the time it takes for the tranny to downshift for passing. He mashes the pedal, the motor revs but hesitates, then it kicks down gears and takes off. There have been many threads here about people trying to pass and not ready for the hesitation.

I don't buy the fly by wire throttle lag.
If you have it in "M" and romp on it, it is very responsive.
The lag must be downshifting related.

Well I don't know. I traded my 2010 in on my ecoboost a month ago and it drives way better than my 2010. That was horrible. Wish I'd had read this and tried a tuner first

It would have been cheaper.

Try tow/haul mode, even if you are not towing or hauling.

It should also be called sport mode. When off, the transmission seems to optimize for economy. When on, it optimizes for performance.

Much quicker downshifts, delayed upshifts. Changes the personality of the truck.

Also, what final gear ratio do you have? Tall?
