One thing I've noticed on my truck is a little more axle wrap than I would like if I have to step on it. I was talking to a coworker about traction bars and he mentioned the traction shocks he has on his Corona. Anyone know about a setup for a 2014 f150? Or have any advice seeing as I've never ran anything like that before.
There are a couple of company's that make traction bars for the f150. JLP and caltracs are two of the popular ones. As far as traction shocks, they are mostly found on unibody cars/imports. Though I think some of the foxbody mustangs had something like that on them.
They saved my bacon at least twice while wheeling in Colorado in September. I got the 1/4" aluminum complete set. Not sure what they saved, but there are scars on one plate.
*And do NOT believe what anyone tells you, you CANNOT change the engine oil while that one skid is on the truck!!! I got a Fumoto drain plug to keep me from having to pull a plate. Not too big of a deal, but...
I did the custom paint job on the lettering. This is the front plate for an EcoBoost.
Those look great for the street! They'd be real rock-draggers off road though.
Just sayin'...
Wouldn't really need them off road, you won't get any traction or at least have enough to cause the wrap or hop. If I wanted a rock crawler I would have built one, trails and such are no concern, if I get hung up I have 12k lb winch mounted and ready to rock. In the event I might want to get into a situation where I think they might bottom out, it takes about 5 mins to remove both of them.
