Default Aux lights

I I'd like to hook up some Amber led lights under my steps... And I'm not too sure how to do it... I've run all the wires I need... Just curious as to what relay I need to use... Is there a specific model number I need to look for... Or a specific voltage ? Thanks for all the help

Will do... The only reason I ask is I was told I could overload the circuit if I don't use a relay... Thanks again

you shouldn't overload the circuit with some led lights unless your putting a few hundred of them on then I would think of another place to grab power from. but I have 5 3led lights and theres been no issues.

I would still run the relay to be honest, you don't want a light that is outside of the truck to short and take the entire circuit with it.
Look up "Bosch 12v relay" those are pretty standard for automotive use.

Having a relay is pretty much standard for most lights, mainly because it increases life of the lights, as well as protects the circuit. That's why most harnesses have them, as well as the inline fuses. So, going with Kidastra, I'd say install a relay to be safe. You shouldn't need more than a 10A relay.

Yeah 10 amp would be more then enough, the Bosch relays are rated to 30amps, but use a 10amp fuse (5 probably would be better for leds)

That's what I use for my light controller, a 10A relay with a 5A fuse to be safe so I don't damage the relay, I find fuses are cheaper.

I agree that a 10A relay may be overkill, but they're common enough that it shouldn't be hard to find at somewhere like Autozone or O'reilly's or Advanced Auto. I believe they also have wire harnesses with relay's and fuses built in, so you could go that route for your lights, depending on how many individual connections you need.
