To the guys that have done this already, I am getting ready to do the actuator and solenoid today and was taking a closer look at the solenoid. I am surprised that there were no instructions whatsoever, just a little box of parts. Can anyone give me a hand here? It looks like there is only one wire, does this not need a ground? I already ran a separate ground line to the tailgate for it so its there, just not sure how to wire this thing up and what all of this bag o' parts I need.

If there is only one wire then the metal casing (the body) is the ground.... That is if it's bolted to metal frame... Lol. You can add the ground wire that you all ready ran to the tailgate and connect it to the case.

Thanks man! I thought I read somewhere that the tailgate was isolated from the frame through the bushings so I didn't think I could ground it to the frame of the tailgate. Thanks!

I grounded mine to the tailgate. It works fine but sometimes gives an amperage spike, probably from the inconsistent ground. Better to tie in to your dedicated ground wire. Enjoy!

I've been looking over the threads and nobody really has detailed the solenoid part of the install, this thing is pretty big and I'm just not sure where to stick it. Help please?

I used a heavy duty trunk release solenoid from eBay and attached it the the tailgate handle.

The solenoid for opening the tailgate has a cable for pulling the lever, so mounting position isn't that important... Just 90 degrees from the lever.

Yup, read those a couple of times, guess I was looking for something a little more idiot friendly. I'll keep putzing with it.

Hey bud, it can be just about anywhere as long as you end up with a relatively straight pull on the handle.
