Finally got some time to get these done... Pretty happy with results.

First is the auto opening tailgate...

Now I'm ready for my Line-X.

and now the Bed Lights...
They are hooked up to the cargos lights.
Love them! They are 5050 SMD's.... Much brighter than the standard ones.

Please enlighten us on how you did that auto tailgate. That is by far probably the best mod I've seen and most useful one. I can't count the number of times that mod would have come in handy while my hands were full. Better yet you should sell that idea to ford, they are half way there by offering a motion sensor on their new 2013 C-Max that opens the rear hatch by waving your foot under the rear bumper. Details PLEASE ;-)

If the remote is possible the motion sensor is just as possible IMO.

But yes, please enlighten.

I built them at work and then made some large .100 thick washers. I don't put at lot of load on them, but some times you just need to tie off to something and have nothing.

Speaking of C-max....I actually looked into the proximity switches, but it got too in depth for me...
I used a heavy duty trunk release solenoid from eBay and attached it the the tailgate handle.
That with the help of the ez down tailgate assist, it works perfectly.

The problem I ran into was how to make it work from the stock remote without adding a alarm or having an additional keyfob.
Found the module called a TR-7... Magical little device.
Fully programmable.
It watches your unlock wire for voltage ( I set mine to 3 unlock presses in 5 seconds) once it sees that it sends voltage to a separate output.
I added a relay and fused output for safety... The TR-7 is only rated for 2A and I feel the solenoid is pulling more than that...
