I see, in the owners manual, an "ambient lighting" 10A fuse in the passenger kick panel, position #21. Mine is in place. I don't know of any other reason for this fuse. Plus, it probably controls a relay or puts the power on the light sensor. ??

OK, I got my sensor and switch today, and like many others, my lights stay ON!

I believe, this became a problem, starting with 2011's. If the headlight switch is removed from it's connection (switch sitting on the floor or else where), the same condition exists. This tells me that a wire is missing or the computer doesn't recognize it. I'm guessing, the later.

I'll do some wire tracing, etc. to see, if I can learn more.

In the mean time, if any body has found the cure for this, don't hesitate to let us know, what it is.

I hate to go to a dealer, as they don't seem to have a clue. I asked at the dealer, when/where I bought it, he said, "It would take modules, blah, blah and cost $600.00". ... I really want to prove him wrong!

I called the local dealer, service, who got me a mechanic, who said "It was uncharted territory for him". He said to bring it by and he would put the scanner on it, as he wanted to see, if there was a "turn on/turn off " function for the auto lamp circuit. He found everything else .. fog lights, police whatever, etc., but nothing for auto lamps. I had written to Tasca and they said, the computer had to be flashed. I called my local dealer back and told them to call the Ford hotline to see, if they could get a straight answer.

One of the surprises, was that the sensor gets it's return from the HVAC module. It seems, that is sends "sunshine information" to the HVAC module, for auto A/C. (It does look like a different sensor for automatic A/C.)

The nicest thing, which I can say, is "what a can of worms!"

I must bought the sensor and auto headlight switch, plugged them in and they worked.

I was just out playing with the lights. They work to some extent, in that they remain on for about 25 seconds, after shutting off the ignition switch. I haven't discovered a means to adjust that time element, yet. The manual, seems to say, "that it can be done from the control center", however I don't see anything there.

Something, which the service tech mentioned, while scanning the thing, .. it had something about "Canada lights", which he said, "it's the law in Canada, to drive with the lights on". He seemed to think, it was set correctly and didn't make a big thing of it, but now, I wonder. It could be, that setting overrides the light sensor. ??

I'm still leaning toward computer programming.

That is probably, 'cause you have a 2010. This glitch seemed to start 2011.

Yep! I wonder if it really a glitch or they just skimped on the harness?

No, I think, enough of it works, to indicate, the wires are there. In "auto lamp", there is a delay, after shutting off the ignition, of about 20 seconds, then the lights go out. Also, when the door is opened, the bells aren't screaming at you, to turn the lights off. I thought maybe, it was in DRL mode, but the light intensity stays the same, with a flashlight shinning on the sensor. Supposedly, they are to be at reduced intensity during the day.

Time will tell ... maybe!
