Default Asking for help on a stereo build...

I am ready to upgrade my Sony 700w stereo in my Limited. I will be building an enclosure for a 12" similar to many have done on here to stay under the smaller rear seat. I keep the larger section folded up throughout the week for work. I will be keeping the stock head unit to maintain all it's features and upgrading all speakers. What I need help with...

I want to run a separate amp for the mids and highs but I truly don't want to run all new speaker wire through the doors. I like the idea of leaving it as is. I know there are ways to do this..can any one help me connect the dots? Is it a bad idea?

Also, can someone school me on using audio control devices like an Lc6i in the F150? Has anyone (that has the Sony 700w) already set up their truck like this? Basically, one amp for upgraded door speakers without running wire through the doors, and a second amp for the sub.

All your help is appreciated!

Posting in the Stereo/Audio section will likely get you more responses.

I recently did this project, it took awhile but is not really hard. Take the center console out and you'll see the factory sound processor you have to cut the wires leaving this processor to the speakers and factory sub but give yourself some extra to work with. Connect your new wire and run it to your new sound processor and from there to your amps and from your amps back to the other end of the wires you cut in the beginning so that the sound signal makes it to the speakers using the original wires. So now your new equipment is just in-line. I ran both passes of wire under the console mount rail under the carpet up against the back of the passenger seat over the door step plates and straight to the back wall.

This is exactly what I needed to hear, thank you. Did you use the Lc6i? Are happy with the sound? Is there possibly a thread somewhere that shows the details of your setup?

I used the Lcq1 and a kenwood 5 channel amp, I am happy with the sound, but adjusting the processor takes awhile since the rear speakers are fed off the bass signal so too much bass makes my rear speakers clip, but it definitely thumps! you'll need signal summing capability to sum the tweeters and speakers signals together. I would also recommend a shallow mount sub, I went with the Kenwood excelon 12 inch and it fit perfectly and has a lot of power, I didn't make a thread of my install but you can find the wiring guide in the audio section that's where I found it.

Yes, that would be great! Anything you could share would be appreciated. The Lcq-1 seems to be the way to go...would love to see how you've got yours set up, thank you.

You will have to run new wires to the new sub from the amp unless your sub is dual coil like the stock one. So you dont have to connect to the other end of the sub wires you will cut, just tape them off
