Default Arm-Rest won't open...

I have the 40/20/40 front seats in my truck...so the jump seat folds down into an arm rest/storage area.

The storage area won't open. Anyone run into this problem? Know of a fix?

I don't want to pull too hard on it for fear of breaking it completely...

I feel stupid asking this but i can't seem to figure it out...

?? as far as I know, the arm rest does not open. If you put the arm rest up, there is a storage bin underneath the arm rest that opens up....

Yeah, it does open. The top has a little handle that you are supposed to pull up on and open the top for a storage area...mine won't open.

You can see on the center, right behind the cup holders there is a handle.

EDIT: Not my photo...just a pic i found that's just like mine.

Ah, mine is different. Mine has no cup holder, it is just padding.

Did it just start doing it or has it done it since purchased?

I know i opened it during the test drive(because i check everything like that) but ever since we picked it up from the dealer it hasn't opened.

I live an hour away from the dealer and have kept telling myself i was going to take it to them, but i never have time to drive 2 hours to get it fixed...not to mention the gas money...so if i can fix it myself i would prefer it.

It is my understanding (in the 2010s at least) that some open to a storage area and some don't depending on what options you got on your truck. But since the OP said he/she has opened it before I'm not sure what's wrong unless something is caught in the latch

Looked for one, but couldn't seem to find anything...maybe someone else could shed some light on this...it must be hid pretty good if there is one. I looked pretty hard.

Yeah, the first thing i did was get in the truck and flip every switch, open every latch, and play with all the buttons. Lights, 4x4, visors, seats, pedals(they move), glove compartment...etc etc etc

I am 99% sure that thing opened....if it didn't i am losing my mind. I'm not sure why they would waste money on a latch for a compartment that doesn't open though....that seems illogical.
