anyone - REMOVE traction control?
Long story short I traded it in on a base model Chevy. I can't deal with that bull**** not having an option to be turned off.
I have put the fuse on a toggle switch inside the cab. Flip the switch off and is essentially the same as pulling the fuse. Disables all forms of tc and abs, absolutely no electronic nannies. Even the LCD display stops showing the pitch and yaw of the truck as well as degrees of the steering wheel. You are still able to switch from 2WD to 4WD but it takes longer. Oh, and also having the ELD on its own toggle switch independent of anything else makes the truck quite a riot to drive off road.

This feature takes away from my entire reason for owning a Ford truck. I have always owned trucks and had fun every now and then driving it like a muscle car, and who hasn't had some fun on a gravel road. Or been in a situation off road where you need to spin the tires or get momentum to make an obstacle. I know government regulation and the entire feel of new "trucks" have gone the direction of cushy car like ways, but not being able to actually disable the traction control and stability control is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. When I bought my new 2010 FX4 the dealer told me the traction control and stability control could be turned off. they didn't tell me it wasn't really off, ie over 35 mph etc...

Maybe it's different, but power braking and letting the speedo sing up to 70-80mph is not an issue in my truck.
see my thread here.

on the 2011+ it looks like you can truly disable everything by holding the button for 5 seconds. at least that's what other members are saying.
on the 2009 and 2010 pressing the button once doesn't really seem to do anything that I can tell. holding it for ten seconds (the light will blink a few times after you hold it 10sec and then release it once it stops blinking) will disable traction control up to 35 miles per hour but will not disable the roll stability control at all. so as soon as the rear comes off center it will still pull power no matter the speed. pulling fuse 36 disables traction, roll stability, and ABS. it will illuminate the traction control, brake, and ABS lights on the dash. it's not worth it IMO, not for me anyway, this is the first time I've ever owned a vehicle this large and while I do consider myself to be a skilled driver I occasionally forget that it takes a good bit more to stop 6,000lbs so for the sake of other drivers I'm not going to drive around in snow without ABS.

well depending on how often you're in the mud, it may be easier to just pop the hood and pull the fuse and then some day down the road you're not trying to sell a truck with a hacked up fuse box. it's in the fuse box connected to the radiator core support right in the front of the engine bay.

Well i don't plan on being in the mud that much so i rather have it on a toggle switch so i can have it on the majority of the time. TC kinda saved my **** one time. I turned onto a wet bridge and when i accelerated my wheels spun and i started going sideways until it kicked in and stopped me from sliding.
