Mine is canadian, as am I. Unless I read it wrong, you said Canadian vehicles don't have HD.

Actually Morris there was some Canadian Mustangs that said they had HD Radio and all the Rep from Ford said was it was regional, some did and some didn't (I got that second hand). MFT with the Sony system if purchased in a US truck has HD radio, mine does not. Same with the Explorers and other cars across the board that have HD Radio in the states and not in Canada.

HD is definitely higher quality than analog fm, but it's not extremely higher. Most of what you hear in the real world (as you described) is an increase in volume setting. Increased volume always sounds better to us in a quick comparison, that's how our brains work. And analog reception issues sound worse than digital reception issues, usually, and show up more so there is more distortion to hear.

Just don't be fooled into thinking HD radio is some sort of high quality audio source. It is not the same type of relationship that old analog tv has to HDTV, where HDTV is MUCH higher quality. It is lower quality than CD and most purchased mp3 tracks. If you care about hifi sound, you'll want to use a USB stick or wired phone/iPod in your vehicle.

As far as sound goes. For music records trump all media for sound. Since it's extreamly difficult for that to happen in a car or truck, I'll agree with what you said

I agree, although it is hard to keep LPs clean for clear playback, and good equipment is expensive. I have no issue with hirez digital audio, though. I've got some discs that are stunning.

OK - back to the Canadian vs US truck...I found a 2013 Platinum model that originated out of Canada. Any drawbacks to this?

Are there the same cluster issues? I thought due to digital read outs that US/Metric settings were converted with a button. Maybe that's just on our other cars?

Only difference I noticed on my truck was the warning in the passenger window about the mirror or whatever it was was in French or when I retune my truck or disconnect battery it starts back up with the temp in celsius and the MPG is in liters/km. My truck also came with a block heater and I think DRLs were mandatory in Canada, although I think the USA ones have DRL too.

Dash was in KM but the dealer swapped out the overlay with an FX4 imperial one

Does the truck smell like Poutine? Is there an emergency jar of Maple Syrup in the glove box? Find any Labatts in the truck box? (thats beer...)

Does the Nav say Turn right eh?
