Default Amp Research Steps Problems?

The other day when i was out hunting my passenger side step wouldnt fully retract all the way? It stopped about halfway leaving a 3-4 inch gap. Weather was a little chilly but not like it is today. Its been colder before and worked. I was pissed and later it started working ok again? Anyone else have this problem?

lol i had this EXACT same problem. Left about a 3 inch gap...couldn't figure out why...it was a tad colder than usual. The next time I looked at it it was all the way up and working fine. What's ironic is it was my passenger side as well.

Try a little lubrication on the joints. There was another thread sometime ago with a problem similar, and they said this took care of the problem. Good luck.

I know as I get older I need a bit more lubrications in the joints also.

What lubrication product is recommended by AMP? (Or what products have owners had success with?)

I've used the white lithium grease in a can with a straw. Try to spray so the grease gets pushed in all the joints. Use eye protection and old clothes, that stuff gets everywhere. If that doesn't get it, you may have to slighty loosen the brackets, cycle it a few times, then re-torque.

Should use dry graphite. It will lube them without the dirt sticking and building up on the grease.

I've heard those steps catch stones and dirt which causes them to fail. I guess if that is the case it could have shook free and now they work perfect agian

well having the problems again. I called amp and they told me to use some spray lubricant and it should fix my problem. I bought pb blaster lubricant and it helped a little but still has a mind of its own. Works sometimes and not others. Lotta snow and ice right now so i know there kinda dirty.
