Default alarm question

This may be a dumb question, but how do you know if you have the factory alarm? Did it come standard on the 2010 plat?

I'm guessing I don't have it, so the question is, is the factory one a simple plug and play? Any idea what kind of price I'm looking at? Does it make sense to go drop $300 at best buy to get an aftermarket one installed?

Thanks

Depends on the level of security you want, aftermarket are by far better.

My concern is when my truck is parked at a mountain bike trail and someone wants to break in. I want it to make enough noise that someone will look. I would prefer a perimeter sensor, but I hate when thunder sets them off. I found this item, and I'm thinking it may be what I need.

Any ideas if this plugs right in, or requires a bit of know how?

So, I did the whole lock the door and open from the inside. Guess I don't have an alarm.

I'm pretty sure all of these newer trucks have at least a passive alarm. My base 2011 XLT has a passive (I also put in my old Viper system), so I would assume that a Platinum would have at least that! Did u double tap the lock button or did u just press it once to lock it?

I put in a Hornet 727T, it a OEM upgrade type alarm. Uses factory FOB key. Comes with a built in shock sensor and I hooked up doors and hood. Also added prox and tilt sensor. there only about $80 got mine off ebay for about $30.

I wanted to keep my OEM FOB because its built into the key and the truck already had remote start.

Ford makes a plug-in-play but its like $300 and not many features.

I know, that's why I put in my Viper system. I'm just saying that the platinum should've already had some sort of system from factory

How so? Is it just a module that you pop off?

The reason I'm looking at the OEM is because I want something I can easily install myself. I know it's only going to be a minor deterrent, but that's all I'm looking for. I don't care so much about the truck getting stolen. I care about it being broken into. I'm looking for a way to keep the smash and grab people away if possible.

Then you want aftermarket. With a screwdriver the drivers door lock can be punched in and unlocked, the truck thinks a key was used so no horn honk on the door opening. They cant start the truck and steal it but can take your belongings. Happened to a least two people I know.

Aftermarket, wired doors, shock sensor at the very least if you want to protect it.
