Aftermarket: Reverse camera to Screen?
Bought a Garmin Nuvi 5000 (A/V in) off Craigslist and ordered a Boyo license plate camera today.

Has anyone installed a similar combo on their 09+ F150? I'm wondering how you ran the cable from the camera to the unit? If you haven't I'd still like to hear your ideas too(:
My first guess would be to run the wire (protected?) under the truck, up to the front under the hood, and through the firewall.

I had the combo of the large-screen garmin nuvi 500 with its AV input and the Boyo license plate camera VTL425 too.
I ran the camera wire along the left frame with the loom there now, to under the hood and then thru the parking brake grommet. On the 09 I ran the wire openly, on the 10 I encased it in one of those plastic harnesses. I don't think it matters though, up to personal taste and how you like it to look. Just zip tied the wire/harness to the existing along the frame.
Along with the camera wire, I ran a positive and negative wire too. The positive I wired into the driver side reverse light, and the ground I grounded somewhere back there. You can also not run the wires from back of truck to front (though not a problem as you are running the camera wire anyways), but instead just pick up the reverse signal and ground under dash or at kick panel (if you know what to look for).
The short connector you get with the Boyo snaps and which you hook into the camera wire you run from back of truck and has the yellow RCA male terminating. This connector also has a little red wire to hook up the the reverse (whether you run reverse from back of truck or whether you pick it up in front of truck). It also has a little black wire for the ground. You will need an adapter to adapt this connector (yellow RCA male) to your Garmin nuvi 5000 input. You need a RCA female to a 3.5mm male. You will then be good to go.
I did not hook up the Garmin to the cig lighter on right of dash because that is on all the time. So, I did what many here do for such needs, I ran a add-a-tap from one of the ignition switched fuses (forget which one, but look in manual and beware: some fuse assignments change depending on the 09,10,11 year) in the passenger side fuse box/SJB/Smart Junction Box, to a female cig lighter socket with bare wires hooked up to the fuse and to ground and hid under the dash just under the center console.
The ONLY downside to this whole shebang is that the wonderful and otherwise great Garmin nuvi 5000 unit takes about 15 or so seconds to boot up (and to take the video input) when you start the truck. So, if you really need the cam to back out, you need to wait.
Good luck, you will like the combo.
I now have the Boyo 425 hooked up to a replacement head unit, the Pioneer AVIC X920BT. The cam looks great on it and no need to wait for boot time for the cam (for audio you need a few short seconds though).
Thanks

I wired mine to be on full time. Pull the driver side plastic sill plate, you will see a wire harness wrapped with tape in a channel.
I ran my wire from the head unit down along this wire bundle.
At the rear of the bundle, there is a grommet, pulled it out and cut a hole and fished my video wire through.
Then I used wire loom to encase video wire and ran it along frame with stock wire harness.
I then found the hot and ground for the 7 pin trailer plug and tapped them.
The harness is on the driver frame rail just above the spare tire.
I wired mine this way so I could switch it on whenever I wanted to watch loads and my trailer.

i ran a backup camera signal to my stereo using a grommet in the floor between the front and rear seats. Sealed it with RTV and didnt have to deal with the hood.
I ran my wire inside the passenger side frame rail.
