We've finally had a break from monsoon season here in southern Ontario so took the door panel off tonight.

The only wiring runs inside the door are for the following:

- speaker
- side impact sensor
- door jamb switch

SOL then. You could probably add a harness from a donor truck that is equipped but that would be one helluva job doing all that.

So 50/50 right now on whether to make up my own harness running from the BCM out to the door or just installing my aftermarket receiver/controller and making the run out from that.

Tending towards the latter as I know how the inputs and outputs "behave" on the aftermarket controller...

Aftermarket would probably be easier.

As a post script I ended up going aftermarket. For $30 I got 2 wireless key fobs, receiver/relay box that goes under the dash and 2 solenoid actuators. The box had a lead coming out that toggles between +12 V and ground. Broke the wiring circuit in the door and added a SPDT relay. The door circuit works as follows: door open = circuit open, door closed = circuit closed. So used the normally closed contact on the relay. So when I hit the key fob button the interior and parking lights come on just like OEM. Found some decent looking illuminated switches and hooked them into the dimmer switch so their brightness follows the dash lighting. I ended up having to hack the box and wire the switch contacts into the control side of its built-in relays but overall very happy with the result. Doors can be unlocked or locked with the switch on either door or the remote key fobs.

Glad it worked out for you. It seems so archaic now to use a key to unlock the doors. Other than my tailgate, I can't remember using a key on any vehicle I've owned in nearly 20 years.

RKE has made lock de-icer a thing of the past. We used to always have a can of the stuff when I was young. It never worked, but we always had it- I think mainly so we could have it run down the side of the car when it was zero degrees outside.

You can fix that tailgate problem. I haven't used a key on that in 2 years.
