Default Add-A-Leaf Questions

I am looking at the Hellwig 61902 helper springs. http://m.autoanything.com/suspension...helper-springs

I have searched on the forum and googled but haven't seen too many reviews on these. Can any members give any feed back on these right hight increase, unloaded handling, loaded handling etc.

I was originally looking at a RAS system but have been hearing they start rusting pretty good after 2 years and I live in the rust belt. RAS has a 2 year warranty and the Hellwig has a lifetime warranty so that's a plus in my book. Plus the Hellwig is rated up too 2,500lbs

I just ordered the Hellwig 989 helper springs. I also ordered a pair of Bilstein 5100's for the rear. I'm replacing my timbrens due to a very annoying bounce while towing our little camper. It's enough to make you physically sick. I think changing over to the stiff LT tires (Michelin LTX AT2) didn't agree with the timbrens. Oh well.

Installed the Hellwig springs last night and have driven them about 11 miles so far...Either there is no change of the unloaded ride, or the ride is actually a little smoother/less busy. So, very happy so far. I did have to use a cutting wheel and grinder (my choice) to eliminate rubbing of one of the clamp bolts with the emergency brake cable, but no biggie. Came out nice I think.

Tonight I will install the Bilsteins in the back.

I just installed the 61902 and it helped when towing the travel trailer. A little stiffer ride but not too bad. I'm going to put those round spacers on between the leafs so they don't rattle, I'll let u know how they go. Overall install was a snap.

FWIW I installed procomp leafs and bilstein 5100 shocks in the rear, didn't notice any ride quality change, and the whole project came in under $200.

It's a pain in the *** install though, if you're doing it yourself, make sure you've got a budy and a case of beer.

They were on sale for $90 at the time I bought them, but here they are only $135
