Your aftermarket HU should, my Kenwood you just hold down a button for 3'secs and it comes on from any screen.

I tried that and nothing. Did u wire the cam different. There were four wires I had to connect when installing mine yesterday. The ground and Red+ wire. Red+ to reverse light wire and ground to body of truck. Male RCA which went to the female RCA of the alpine and the reverse wire to which I connected to the reverse wire of the HU as well.

I wired mine into the trailer harness, the orange is the keyed hot and I used the ground for the trailer harness. Then RCA to back of HU. I did not hook up reverse wire yet but have it.
So when my key is on, my camera is on and I hold the button on the HU and it will switch to camera and I can watch trailer, loads, ect.
