Default About to pull the trigger on tuner and tunes

Hey guys I have a bone stock 2014 Limited 3.5 ecoboost. I plan on leaving her stock as well at least until my warranty is up...

I keep reading about how well tunes wake up these trucks even stock and I would like to try that out, plus a little better mpg if I'm easy on the throttle. There's so many opinions about which tunes to get and my head is spinning so I think I am just going to get the 5* tunes and get the X4 tuner from them at the same time.

I just punched in all the info on their website and want to make sure I'm getting what I want. I'm very naïve to all this so please bare with me...

I use my truck mainly for going to work and back 25 miles each way 50/50 highway backroads. We use it as the family vehicle to run around to pretty much everything so I do get a lot of stop and go and a good amount of cruising. I mainly get up to speed and use the cruise control as much as possible but I do like to get into the throttle hear and there...

It sounds like most people who get a few tunes leave it on the 93 performance only tune 100% of the time so I think I will be going with that one as well. It looks like I get to pick 3 tunes for no extra charge with 5* and I just don't know what to choose. so far I picked 93 performance only, 91 economy, 87 performance/tow. I have no reason for why I picked the other 2 other than ignorance.

Will I be happy with these tunes? Should I picked different? Also they have the trans only tunes what are those? I thought when you get a regular tune the trans gets adjusted at that time as well? I do want the tranny to be smoothed out as well...

Like I said go easy on me I'm going in blind to all this and just want to be happy with my purchase. Thanks guys!!

5* is a popular choice.

I run a 91 Performance/Tow 99% of the time. I find that the 91 Performance is way too responsive for me. I don't care for the shift points.

I ran the 87 eco along with the 91 eco for a while and I didnt care for it. It also didnt help my mileage.

So the transmission does get adjusted with each tune?

What are the Trans tunes for? Just if you want to leave the engine tune stock but adjust shift points?

Also performance/tow tune is better for daily driving? Performance only would be more for going to the drag strip?

I run the 91 daily street tune all the time now. the 91 performance was nice, but driving around some side streets the shift points hold far to long for me. I got the 87 daily street too, but I like the 91 better.

from what I have read skip the economy tunes

So is the 91 daily street tune the same as the 91 performance/tow tune?

I went 87 perf/tow, 89 perf/tow, and 91 race from 5*. I run the 89 perf/tow daily.

I tried the 91 race for a short while, but found it too aggressive for my daily driving. It certainly does wake it up some more though.

Everything I read said stay away from the economy tunes, and I did just that.

If I did it over, I'd likely replace the 87 perf/tow with a 91 perf/tow. I chose the 87 in case anyone borrowed my rig so I wouldn't have to worry about what fuel they used. I could just as easy put it back to stock for that purpose though.

I do feel the 89 perf/tow offers a good improvement while not having to pay the price for premium fuel.

Mine is the 5.0 though, so YMMV.

Forgo the economy tune, many people find they get just as good MPG's with the perf/tow tunes if they keep their foot out of it.
I bought an eco tune from them and used it once in the 2+ years I've had them.
I also got a 89 perf/tow, 87 perf/tow, 91 perf/tow and a 91 perf.
I pretty much only run the 91 perf for daily driver.
(91 octane is the highest I can get where I'm at)

If there are certain things you don't like or want adjusted (shifting, throttle tip in...) just let them know and they will adjust and send you a revision.

Also if you are worried about your warranty they offer an extended warranty for an additional charge but I really don't think it's needed.

I run the 87 performance tow tune, but had them adjust the shift points to stock (except for tow haul). The default shift points in the tune for both upshift and downshift under throttle were too abrupt for my relaxed driving style. It held the gears too long under light throttle and down shifted too early when coasting. I mainly wanted it for the electronic throttle improvements, so it drives and shifts normally but when you put your foot in it you get more throttle plate opening percentage wise vs stock.

What is throttle tip in? If its what I am thinking I do want that adjusted...

When I roll up to a stop light and I'm coasting then the light turns green and I hit the gas the truck seems to hesitate like it doesn't know what to do then it all the sudden the power comes in and it takes off. Its actually very annoying and the only thing I don't like about driving my truck...

Is that throttle tip in?
