Exclamation 6R80 filter question

I ordered the FT-188 filter from Jegs, and it arrived today, but I was unsure what these two little square cardboard pieces are inside the package.

Is there a possibility there's more stuck inside the filter, or did they fall out from inside the filter? Or is this completely normal? First time ordering this filter for doing my first transmission fluid change procedure, so I don't want to take any chances.

Thank you!

I would guess that they are desiccants.

Thank you! Do you know if it's worth replacing the bulkhead connector sleeve while in there? Mine isn't leaking yet.

Ford Tech Makuloco says it can't hurt to do it while everything is apart. It's cheap insurance to make sure it continues problem free. I'm about to embark on that project myself.

Are you replacing the leadframe too, or just a fluid and filter change?

Yes, leadframe too. It has acted up a few times.

I think they're either left-overs from assembly of the package, or moisture indicators, nothing to worry about.

I saw a YouTube video with the same two squares in the package, so that's comforting at least!
