Hello, I have a 2012 f150 with a 6" RCX lift I had to replace the rear shocks once before and I noticed today the one rear shock is loose and moves all around if you grab it, lotta noise going down the road... So Can I just change out the rear shocks with a different brand as long as there for 6" lift correct? I just ordered a set of bds fox 2.0 shocks off of bds website.. Now I'm questioning if I jumped the gun and ordered the wrong thing, the rcx rear shocks do not ride the greatest in the first place., and if the fox shocks will work do you guys suggest mounting them with the body up or down and how hard is this process, thanks!!

Make sure you get the ones for a 6" lift and you're fine using 2.0s mount them body up.

If the shocks on your truck are rattling the mount bolts are likely loose they need to be torqued to 75-80 ft lbs.

Just double checked, yes I ordered the ones for 6"..
Ok every where I read is diff body up body down... Read there nitrogen and it doesn't matter
I checked in the daylight now, the rubber bushing is gone at the bottom mount.. Hence the noise and movement I guess

They are aluminum bodied. Hang them body up. Less chance of denting them. And it looks better. I have the rubber boots on mine.

If they get dented they are toast.

Look at raptor. Mounted body up.

Running the fox 2.0s on mine. Can't complain at all. Thinking about going 2.5's all the way around come spring time.

I heard the 2.5's are more for off road and rougher ride is that true??
Ok I'll mount body up, true it'll look a lot better

Long shot but upgrading my shocks will this help for wheel hop at all.. It doesn't do it all the time but I've had it happen a few times..

Shocks may help the wheel hop slightly but you'll need traction bars to truly eliminate it. Upgrading my rear leaf pack greatly helped with ride quality and wheel hop.

A 2.5 shock/coilover doesn't always equate into a harsher ride. You may have a slightly stiffer road ride but the 2.5s are a larger shaft diameter and are mostly all remote reservoirs holding more oil for the shock, meaning more dampening. Ride quality also is depends on the amount of preload set on the shocks. Personally I wouldn't go any larger than a 2.5 shock on our trucks unless you plan on setup wheeling. I would probably have to go with a custom length 2.5 piggyback shock for the rear setup and run a full leaf pack.

You're around my area right?

Gotcha thx, my 2.0's should be here in 2 days.. Ordered straight from bds website.. yeah I am 20 min from Altoona.. I remember talking to you now.. I haven't been on here for around a year.. You were gong to change your set up last I talked to you.. Coil overs would be awesome to get but I can't see that price tag being worth it.. I don't like the style of the new f150s so I'll be sticking to this till it dies

Yea I went to coilovers up front but still retained the spacer. I've been going back and forth on swapping the fronts to the Bds 6" coilovers. I'm pretty happy with the rear setup I have now.

Coilovers make a nice change in ride quality and performance. I got a deal on one coil on he forums and bought the other Black Friday.
